The Jeffco Training Center is located at 2550 Cherry Avenue in Steubenville, Ohio. The Training Center is open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Jeffco Training Center provides a variety of services to the adults with disabilities that we serve. The services that we provide are based on individualized plans, tailored to the needs of the individual.
The Jeffco Training Center houses two production departments: a janitorial/maintenance department that maintains the Training Center and its grounds, and an IRVC department. The IRVC (Independent Recreation and Vocational Center) department provides the opportunity to work on subcontracting tasks as well as the opportunity to participate in the leisure activities offered at the Training Center when work tasks are not available.
The Training Center production departments give the adults that we serve the opportunity to earn money in a supportive environment. The Training Center also houses several ILRC’s (Individual Learning and Recreation Centers). These departments focus primarily on providing opportunities for various leisure activities. Leisure activities offered at the Training Center include a Sensory room, a fitness room, a Home Ec room, a recreation room containing a variety of games and activities, field trips in the community, music activities, and an annual musical production.
All individuals who attend the Training Center receive skill development by our certified staff that may include safety skills, self-care skills, socialization skills, and pre-vocational skills. Staff members are also trained to provide any assistance with activities of daily living that an individual may need including feeding, toileting, and repositioning. Adults in attendance at the Training Center receive various health services, including nursing services, and necessary ancillary services, including physical therapy. The focus of the Training Center is to provide the opportunity for meaningful activities to the adults that we serve while teaching valuable life skills.
