We offer a unique environment that provides the flexibility needed to educate students with special needs.

School of Bright Promise meets all standards as specified by the Ohio Department of Education.

Services are provided to students residing in the following school districts:

  • Buckeye Local
  • Edison Local
  • Toronto
  • Steubenville

School Mission Statement: The mission of the School of Bright Promise and the Jefferson Regional Spectrum Center is “all students can achieve”, therefore, we are committed to identifying and meeting the diverse needs of each student through individualized educational programming.  All students are empowered to reach their individual potential, and will be provided with an educational foundation that enables students to have the ability to think, communicate, create and apply their learning experiences and become lifelong learners.

CLASSROOM STRUCTURE

Each class is made up of 6 to 8 students with one licensed teacher and at least one teacher aide. The staff/student ratio is low to help meet physical, medical, and educational needs of each child served by School of Bright Promise.

Educational services are focused on providing a developmentally appropriate, functional program for students, using a curriculum that is aligned with the Ohio Early Learning content standards for preschool and the academic standards for school-aged students.

RELATED SERVICES

Children also receive services as designated by their Individual Educational Program (IEP) that may include:

  • Occupational therapy
  • Physical therapy
  • Community education
  • Behavior supports
  • Service coordination
  • Adaptive physical education
  • Nursing and delegated nursing
  • Transportation to and from school
  • Communication and language development
  • Social interaction
  • Vocational training
  • Transition from school to work

AFTER GRADUATION

School staff, Community Employment Services, and Transition to Adulthood partner to provide vocational training and job development to help students move into the work world.
